MOTR® Fundamentals (8 Hours)
The Fundamental MOTR® course includes instruction on the basic movements in each exercise category as well as an introduction to the Balanced Body Programming System for easy class design to help you teach dynamic 30 – 60 minutes classes with ease.
You will quickly see how the MOTR® fits into any Pilates or personal training practice. The rounded surface of the MOTR® adds balance and stability challenges to many exercises which creates a fun, functional training tool in a small footprint.
MOTR® Comprehensive (16 Hours)
The comprehensive MOTR® instructor training includes instruction on all the MOTR® exercises and variations and gives instructors everything they need to teach a variety of formats from small group personal training to circuit training to private sessions. You will learn to perform, teach and cue MOTR® exercises in all positions to increase your confidence and get you ready to teach.Based on the Balanced Body Movement Principles you will discover how easy it is to design and deliver dynamic classes using the Balanced Body Programming System. The combination is designed to help you understand the purpose of each exercise, common regressions and progressions and how to program classes for students of all kinds.

MOTR® APPLICATION
How to apply for your MOTR® TEACHER TRAINING
Students applying for admission into a course administered by Pilates Academy will need to fill out and submit by email the following documents:
- Completed APPLICATION FORM
- 500 AED Deposit per course (refunded if you are not accepted)
THIS STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE EXPLAINS THE TEST OUT PROCESS
Step 1 – Apply for test out. Complete this application form and send it to Balanced Body along with documentation of required personal practice and student teaching hours. Incomplete applications will not be processed or kept on file. Please allow 30 days for your application to be processed. Rush applications will be charged a $50 fee.
Step 2 – Application review. Balanced Body reviews the completed application and notifies you and your MOTR® Master Instructor of the application status by email.
Step 3 – Schedule your test. Your MOTR® Master Instructor will work with you to arrange the test out date and Balanced Body will post the test online. Once it is posted, you must register and pay for the test prior to the test out date.
Step 4 – Take the test. The test consists of a practical exam on teaching the exercises from Tracks 1, 2 & 5 (approximately 20-30 minutes) to a client or class. Once the test is over, the Master Instructor will provide you with feedback and a copy of your teaching evaluation. A copy of your evaluation and your status will be sent to Balanced Body by your Master Instructor.
Step 5 – Receive your Certificate of Completion Once Balanced Body receives the completed test, a final certificate is mailed to you within 30 days. If you do not pass the test, Balanced Body will communicate with you and your Master Instructor regarding what you need to do before retesting.
What will the practical exam consist of?
All students completing the MOTR® practical test out will teach the following Tracks: » Track 1: Core Integration » Track 3: Balance » Track 5: Plank

Is there a fee to test out?
Yes, a fee is charged for the final test out. The amount of the fee depends on the location of the test out and the number of students attending. Test outs are available at Balanced Body host sites, at Pilates on Tour conferences or at your facility.
CoreAlign® 1: Foundations (16 Hours)
The CoreAlign provides a superior environment for training gait, balance, core stability and sport specific movements in a flexible and dynamic environment. CoreAlign 1: Foundations, is the heart of the CoreAlign training program. The course includes the theoretical basis of the CoreAlign method along with essential exercises to illustrate the full potential of the CoreAlign.
Program includes:
- 60+ foundation exercises designed to build functional movement skills applicable to daily life and athletic pursuits.
- Exercises in standing, plank, all fours and supine positions.
- Specific exercise Tracks to focus on Trunk Integration, Upper Body Strength and Balance, Lower Body Strength and Power, Gait and Dynamic Flexibility.
- Progressions and regressions to address clients at different levels of ability.
- Specific modifications and precautions for working with clients with injuries and special populations.
- The Balanced Body Movement Principles to make your training more efficient, effective and safe.
- CoreAlign equipment set up, maintenance and safety.
CoreAlign® 2: Progressions (16 Hours)
CoreAlign 2: Progressions, builds on the foundation of CoreAlign 1 with progressions of the key exercises learned in CoreAlign 1 and additional exercise categories, training options and teaching techniques.
Program includes:
- Progressions of plank and standing exercises to address a range of training goals from core stabilization to creating integrated rotation for throwing sports.
- Training options using rotator discs, variable directions of resistance and moments of suspension.
- Exercises to challenge balance, coordination and complex movement patterns to prepare clients for anything life throws their way.
CoreAlign 2 provides an excellent platform for improving functional movement patterns for clients at any level of ability from physical therapy patients to professional athletes.
COREALIGN APPLICATION
How to apply for your COREALIGN TEACHER TRAINING
Students applying for admission into a course administered by Pilates Academy will need to fill out and submit by email the following documents:

- MEETING THE PREREQUISITES
The prerequisites for completing the CoreAlign® instructor training program include having a basic level of anatomy, kinesiology knowledge, and previous experience as a movement educator. Please indicate how you have met these prerequisites and send supporting documentation to Balanced Body with your application.
ANATOMY Students can meet this requirement through any of the following:
- A degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Science or equivalent
- Licensure as a rehabilitation professional including PT, ATC, DC, MD or equivalent
- Completion of a basic anatomy course offered through a college, Pilates instructor training program or equivalent
- Satisfactory completion of an anatomy test available through Balanced Body (under development)
PREVIOUS TRAINING AS A MOVEMENT EDUCATOR
This requirement can be met through any of the following:
- A degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Science or equivalent
- Licensed rehabilitation professional including PT, ATC, DC or MD
- Nationally recognized Personal Training certification such as NASM or ACSM
- Completion of a comprehensive Pilates Instructor Training program
THIS STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE EXPLAINS THE TEST OUT PROCESS
Step 1 – Apply for test out. Complete this application form and send it to Balanced Body with all completed documentation of hours, proof of anatomy requirement, and any additional documentation. Step 2 – Balanced Body reviews the completed application. Upon approval, you and your CoreAlign Master Instructor are notified of the application status by email. This email will include test out procedures.
Step 3 – Schedule your test. You and your CoreAlign Master Instructor arrange the test out date. Your Master Instructor will work with Balanced Body to post your scheduled test online. You must register and pay for your test prior to the test out date.
Step 4 – Take the test. The test has two components, a written exam covering exercises as well as the Balanced Body Movement Principles and a practical exam on teaching the exercises (approximately 30 minutes). Once complete, the Master Instructor will provide you with feedback and a copy of your teaching evaluation. Your completed test, copy of evaluation and status will be sent to Balanced Body by your Master Instructor.
Step 5 – Once Balanced Body receives the completed test, a final certificate is mailed to you within 30 days. If you do not pass the test, Balanced Body will communicate with you and your Master Instructor regarding next steps.
Each of the modules requires successfully completing an in-class written test and a practical teaching presentation. To become a fully-qualified CoreAlign instructor you will need to successfully complete all three modules, 14 CoreAlign observation hours, 40 CoreAlign personal sessions and 120 student teaching hours. The test itself consists of both written and practical sections.
What will the written exam consist of?
The written exam will consist of multiple choice, fill in the blank questions and an essay. Questions will focus on CoreAlign theory, the Balanced Body movement principles, exercise foundations and progressive chains.
What will the practical exam consist of?
Your examiner will provide you with a series of exercises and exercise chains from each of the modules. Your teaching skills will be evaluated for correct set-up and execution of exercises, client safety, understanding and application of the CoreAlign principles, cueing, and your ability to communicate successfully with your client.
